Horror films have never quite been all that interesting to me. I can say that when a horror film has ever grabbed my attention, it is because the writing and concept behind the film are so compelling that as a storyteller I can't dismiss it.
Tobias is my favorite writer on the planet write now. The guy is so good I refuse to read his Superman because it makes me take a hard look at my own skills. He's forced me to do so once again with this perfect opening to what I'm hoping will be a staple team here. If you've been paying attention, the build to the gathering has been one that's been happening for awhile now, and I know for a fact this has been nothing but a labor of love for Tobias. Team books can often be tricky and not feel forced, but Tobias does a great job of making sure the story flows while giving us glimpses into the vital reasons why these characters are coming together. Overall I absolutely loved this story and look forward to seeing how things play out.
What were your thoughts on the gathering?

Thanks for the thoughts. I admit, it took a while to develop a liking for Jason and Michael Myers, but Freddy and Chucky were always my horror icons, with Andy Barclay and Alice Johnson being my favorite survivors. After reading the Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash: Nightmare Warriors mini-series years ago, which basically had the same concept (unfortunately that crossover was rather lacking given the lineup mainly consisted of people from Jason's side of things) It was always in the back of my head to try something like that, only on a much grander scale. I'm hoping to pull in both monsters and survivors from several more franchises as the series goes along. I'm tinkering with expanding the mini by a few more issues just to fit in everything I want to do before the main series launches after the event later this year.

This was that same idea I have with Monster Squad, as I didn't want to do a reboot of the cult classic but have supernatural heroes from movies and TV and even video games come together as a team to fight the supernatural. I started with Barnabas Collins from Dark Shadows (The classic TV show) then added Devo (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure) as the main villains. Mixed in the Riverdale characters with their Archie Horror imprint style just to make the limited series interesting.
As for the Gathering # 1 it's a good read, and I hope the Monster Squad the the Nightmare Warriors will cross paths soon.

Maybe after the event once the line-up's set. There might another addition or two during the first arc. I keep getting more and more ideas for The Gathering that's threatening to make it longer.
#2 - The first encounter with Michael Myers #3 - Jacob encounters the Dream Warriors/maybe a B story about John and Tommy while Jacob's busy in the Dream World. #4 Andy Barclay joins the team while trying to get away from the Cult of Thorn #5. The Team vs. Chucky, Michael Myers and Freddy in their first big fight, leading into the start of the Mighty Max mini. #6. Set during the Mighty Max mini with the group going to get Cody and getting sidetracked with going to get Max from Camp Crystal Lake. This leads into the tie-in issue for the Event, with NW #1 picking up after for the first storyline post Event/The Gathering.
