Prestige needs no dibs. If you got a title you want to do, and you don't wanna connect it up to any other titles, there's a spot in PI for it. I'm doing Beyond Enterprise right now (a sequel to the Scott Bakula Star Trek), but if you wanted to do a gritty reboot of Enterprise, also on the Prestige Imprint, you could totally go for it. The walls of separation between titles there means that nobody needs to call dibs, because nothing anyone writes can affect anyone else's story. You could even mix and match IPs, if you want. Alan Moore's LXG for instance, would be right at home on the Prestige Imprint. As far as I'm concerned, I haven't /really/ dibsed any IPs at all, because I don't have that power. I just ask that if someone writes an IP that I am already writing, they make sure not to set it in a shared reality with mine. That's cool. It's really just, I like the idea of the prestige imprint, but all my ideas veer into the shared quadrant-verse. My frustration is totally coming from my brain, other than anything at the site. I haven't found that franchise that clicks and makes me not want to share or where the story I'd want to tell has to be on its own. LXG is a very cool example to use and may end up on my wish list. Like with slice of life, it's not that I think I can't do something for either imprint, but it bothers me that no story is coming into my head that works.

I'm doing King of the Monsters, as I wanted to do a better kaiju battle story with all the Toho monsters even Ultraman and Gamera. I might do a TMNT series in the Prestige Imprint as I may restart my All-New TMNT series from years back. Oh yeah, that's what got me interested in seeing if I could find a franchise of my own, was seeing you guys announcing projects and how gung ho everyone is.

Assorted thoughts:
Attended a comic con last weekend, so along with my huge stack of back issues, I added at least three things to my writing wish list
Have been inspired to start a list of potential Prestige Imprint ideas. We'll see if any of them click, or just end up added to my crazy long quadrant 'to be written' lists.
Much as my insomnia messes with me, I always end up with a couple story ideas and last night, figured out how to fix a story that was giving me trouble.

My turn: If I was king of hollywood: No prequels. Even the good ones are clunky and problematic. They either screw up their own continuity or get too cutesy and self aware.
Really liked the Captain Marvel movie. Its only real flaw was when it tried to connect the dots on marvel history. Nearly all were stumbles.
You want to do sequels, okay, but you have to go forward, going back is just not working.

Random update:
Finished my Multi-Doctor story, and am wrapping up a couple non-every-verse projects, and will be getting back on schedule.
Hopeful writing schedule:
Mystery Ranger: Intro to my corner of the power rangers-verse as well as a tie in to the crossover event.
Lexx: Their first appearance will most likely be a two parter and include a couple appearances from other quadrant characters
Lobster Johnson: This will be the Lucha version and will the hopefully be the first of a trilogy, in the style of old, wonderfully goofy Lucha movies
Now, I have the focus of the dog from 'Up', so any idea thrown my way, could distract me, but that's the schedule I'm hoping to keep too.
I also have half a Wolfcop story written, notes for a Flintstones one shot, more Doctor Who and my pile of Lost in Space notes has gotten big enough that it might become a mini.

Paranoid Kev here: The cameos in your "Lexx" pilot are all from THE FASH, right? Just making sure...

Pretty sure. I'll double check and make sure.
I'd hate to be the one that finally causes you to snap and run screaming into the night...

Been thinking a lot about pirates lately: I'm writing a pirate story for a small press publisher, the stories here have me watching One Piece and an anthology I was reading ended up having several pirate stories in it.
It seems the universe is trying to tell me something.
Next thing to do is decide if I want to write space pirates or the old fashioned on the water kind and then start looking for a franchise.

I had an idea once I called the Foley Pirates.
Mick Foley would play the dastardly pirate villain. Dave Foley would play his Shmee. & Scott Foley would play the handsome pirate-hunter good guy.
I... don't know how that helps you... but there you are.

Sent off my pirate story, so nothing to do but stress while waiting to hear back from my editor and try to catch up on my fanfic writing.

Since you asked...update:
Lucha Lobster: about half done on a rough draft
I have notes for a Lexx story and a Lost in space story and am going to have to flip a coin to see which one I write first
Wolfcop: also about halfway through my first draft
Doctor Who: I have planned out three more stories, but think I should do some of my other stuff first. Probably do my Mystery Rangers, since their first story will tie into the event
And if I get all caught up on that, I will either work on my pitch ideas for marvel/DC TV, some more Monsters vs Aliens ideas or some Star Trek related stuff.
I'm not sure what they will be, but I do hope to send a couple stories your way in a week or so.

Wolfcop is finished, but I'll probably wait and send it in October for my Halloween contribution.
Now, on to the Future!

So, the plan is/was to do a couple monster stories for october and then get cranking on future stuff. Finished Wolfcop and am halfway through a Lobster Johnson story.
Got mini-series mapped out for Lost in Space and some stuff on the fringes of Star Trek. I'm good to go and focused...and then my brain dumps a nearly fully formed Bladerunner story on me....!
Why does my brain hate me?
